Sunday evening the band was in downtown Grand Junction. It was a nice setup with the street blocked off for the concert. Again the last call was at 7:30pm and the band quit at 8pm.

I started riding today at 6:50am. About 90% of the bikes were gone from the bike corral when I left and I should have left earlier. Today’s ride is the most difficult of the week and is one of the epic Colorado bike rides. It started off pretty flat we only gained 1,000 feet in the first 36 miles. We rode on a bicycle path for about 10 of those mile. We also rode on the four lane highway interstate 70 for 10 miles on the shoulder. In the next 20 miles we gained 6,000 feet with grades varying from 4% to 10%. This climb was tough on most of the riders. I did this same ride last year and it was more difficult this year. Probably because I only had one day to get use to the elevation vs a week last year and I had more miles in last year. There was snow starting at 10,000. The 20 mile down hill was nice. I got up to 40 mph a few times and only needed to brake a few times for some gravel patches. It also rained for about 5 miles of the downhill which made for a few tense minutes. I am glad this 96 miles is over and looking forward to the rest of the ride. I also got to watch the Blackhawks win the final……. Go Hawks
