Ride the Rockies – Day 6

An unexpected nice ride

Last night we had dinner in downtown Esres and went to the concert for a nice evening.

The last day was a short day at 51 miles and mainly down hill with about 2,300 feet of climb. For the first 22 miles we followed a river thru Big Thompson Canyon. I was averaging over 21 miles per hour to the second rest stop.

We then started our first major climb at Horsetooth reservoir. We had 3 climbs along the reservoir with very steep climbs with slopes over 13%.

We saw a guy down in a ditch that didn’t make the turn at the bottom of the hill. He was being helped by medical staff and others. We also saw a deer crossing the road and go back again.

The views today were awesome and varied for being a short ride.

The ride into Fort Collins was nice with a quiche ice cream stop. It was a good feeling to complete the ride.
