Bicycling Across America 2017 – Day 5

Today’s ride from Wickenburg to Cottonwood is ranked the 3rd hartest according to Gary from Washington. He did qualify depending on weather. It is 104 miles long with 8,600 feet of climb. My average speed was only 13.5 mph which is far lower than the 16+ mph from the last three days.

Today’s ride was a climbing day with 3 major passes.  The scenery was awesome and exciting with the fast down hills. The temperatures were lower today and the winds were favorable making the ride easier. Today’s ride might be one of most people favorite.

We are eating ice cream on the ride for the 4th day in a row. We are getting to be known as ice cream gang.
