We are 6 day into our 27 day ride and you can see the progress on the map of the USA we are making. Today’s ride goes from Cottonwood to Winslow, Arizona. The route was modified to add an additional 7 miles plus I added an additional 14 bonus miles when I made a wrong turn before the lunch Stop. As a result my ride today was 130 miles with 8,195 feet of climb. My average speed for the day was 15mph.

Most of today’s climb was over a 30 mile distance with a headwind which made for a difficult climb. Unlike yesterday where the climbing was broken up into three separate smaller climbs which I preferred.  Today I started riding with the ice cream gang for the first 40 miles but lost them when I got my 4th flat tire of the trip. I rode most of the ride alone and rode at my own pace.  I think everyone will agree that the best part of the ride was the last 40 miles coming into Winslow were everyone was going 30 mph because of the down hill and tailwind.  I was hearing the Eagle’s song “Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona” all the way in.

The La Posada Hotel was amazing.

This video is John from Illinois comment on the ride.

Will says Day 6 looks like a hill that you’d need to push your bike up. He’s also wondering how many extra tires you brought and hopes you don’t run out. The pictures are beautiful! Have some extra ice cream for us today! We can’t wait to see New Mexico.
