Bicycling Across America 2017 – Day 7

Today’s ride was 119 miles with 4,500 feet of climb.  My average speed was 13.9 mph and it was a difficult day with the headwind. About 1/2 the people said today was the hardest day so far with the others saying the second day with the rough pavement and hot temperatures.
Breakfast a mile down the road from the hotel today.

The scenery got more open not many trees. You can see over 20 miles with small mountains in most directions.

Amy’s from New York comments on today’s ride.

I was able to use Susan’s scale and found that I gained 4 pounds after 7 days of riding.  I decided only to have one helping at the ice cream social tonight. Maybe being a member of the ice cream gang is not the best thing for weight but it sure taste good.
