Today ride from Socorro to Ruidoso is a climbing day with 6,500 feet of climb over 105 miles. I only average 14 mph today because of the headwind and steep grades near the end slowed me down a little. I saw grades on my GPS over 10%.
Today we started at 4600 feet and ended the day around 7,300 feet of elevation. The weather was pleasant with cross winds for most of the day.
We are 1/3 of the way thru the ride. The first four days were ment to be easy except for the hot desert temps to allow people to work themselfs into shape. The next five days were ment to be challenging. This was the last of the challenging days for awhile. Tomorrow is a 98 mile day with 3,000 feet of climb.
We went thru the black lava fields today.
Looking down from the last Rest Stop at the steep road and area we just biked up.
The following are the comments from John from VA. On today’s ride.
