Bicycling Across America 2017 – Day 15 – The ups and downs to Purcell

Today’s ride from Weatherford to Purcell was 112 miles with 6,500 feet of climb. We were a lot slower than yesterday at 13.6mph. This was mainly due to headwinds whenever we stairstepped   south. If you look at the profile line it is unlike any so far it’s jagged which is caused by many up and downs from rollers. It made for a pretty day but lots of extra work.

As we go east the land is getting greener. A number of the fields were just plowed and replanted and the dirt is sure red.
There is also more oil wells than what we were seeing in Texas.

Today we left the old Route 66 route and the pavement improved a little.
