Bicycling Across America 2017 – Day 18

I was going to talk about the first 50 miles of today’s ride going on low volume roads with great scenery but the highlight for me for today’s ride was the 18 miles after our lunch Stop. We rode on  a lightly travel small rural road that went by many small homes and trailers then into a park with a large reservoir. We only saw 6 cars in that section and the pavement was good.  Most of the homes had big yards. I was surprised how many people were living in trailers. This might have been because this area is a vacationn area with the large reservoir.

Today’s ride was  99 miles with 4,500 feet of climb. My average speed was 15.1mph.

Sunrise over the Lodge with the bikes ready to roll out.

We started out on top of the mountain with several steep but short climbs and descents before the long descent into Nema. There was fog in the lower areas off the mountains.
